Carol Elia

ACE Certified Personal Trainer & GFI, RYT-500. Founder, Life Long Yoga

Carol, a 500- hr Registered Yoga Alliance Instructor , ACE certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, is passionate about fitness! She has over 22 years of experience in group exercise, including strength training, cardio conditioning and flexibility training. She started practicing Power and Astanga Yoga in the mid 90's when she found Baron Baptiste, former instructor of the Philadelphia Eagles and Dee Silvers at Yoga Sport in Ardmore, PA. Her yoga teaching began a few years later when Carol decided it was time to give the community a taste of what she was experiencing in a physically challenging and evenly balanced yoga practice. Carol began teaching yoga at Power Yoga Works and continued on at Main Line Heath & Fitness for over 15 years. Carol also studies with and has been certified by Yogalife Institute in Devon, PA, where Bob Butera, Phd. teaches the tradition of yoga as he is taught in India. Elia has her 500 hour RYT Certification and continues studies with Dr. Butera through his Meditation program.

Elia devotes gratitude to her many previous teachers including Bryan Kest, Beryl Bender Birch, Anna Forest, Shiva Rhea, David Swenson, Sri Pattabi Jois, and Sean Corne to name just a few. She also founded “Yoga4Kids”, a company that brings yoga poses, meditation, breathing techniques, movement and relaxation to kids and teens of all ages and Balanced Fitness, her own personal training business which integrates a balance of strength training with cardio conditioning and yoga/flexibility practice.

Carol currently teaches at Philadelphia Sports Club and Verge yoga in Wayne, PA. She is certified in TRX, Aerosling (an amazing German body suspension training system similar to TRX); Zumba, Concept II Rowing, Real Ryder Cycling, and MyRide Video simulation cycling.

In her spare time, Carol is a proud mother of two teens and wife of Dr. Gene Elia, a joint replacement specialist with Premier Orthopedics. She also runs her own accomplished interior design business, C R Design that specializes in design for Elderhood. This has been Carol’s primary career for over 18 years! Recently Carol was certified in all levels of the Silver Sneakers program, devoting exercise, fitness and flexibility training to elders who use the chair vs. the floor. She wanted to explore more than flexibility in a chair and in 2013, Carol had the idea for Life Long Yoga. With her background in gerentological design and yoga teachings, Carol was determined to bring both together! Together with the support of great teachers with similar interests, Life Long Yoga took flight!
